The moment when you find your first gray hair is one of the less pleasant moments of life… unfortunately, sooner or later it happens to everyone. Two things in life are unavoidable: gray hair and taxes.
Fortunately, there are natural ways to cover that gray hair by using easy to find ingredients; you simply need a little bit of patience for their preparation and persistence in their use. However, the biggest advantage is that you will avoid contact with dangerous chemicals.
Here are four recipes that can help you hide those grays. based on coffee, cocoa and soy sauce.
How to Cover Gray Hair Naturally:
1. Coffee Mask
- 1/2 cup of strong coffee
- 1 cup of natural yogurt
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
The coffee will help to darken your brown hair. The apple cider vinegar removes dead skin cells, opens the follicles and helps the penetration of the color. It’s best to buy organic ACV, unfiltered and none pasteurized.
Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix until the mixture is smooth and seamless. First, shampoo your hair but don’t use conditioner. Next, make sure to spread the mixture all over your hair with your fingers, distributing well from the roots to the ends. Cover your head and let the mask sit for at least 90 minutes. Finally, rinse out the mask with warm water and dry your hair.
2. Natural tint based on coffee
- 1 cup of coffee
- 2 cups balm
- 2 tablespoons of ground coffee
Prepare the coffee and put it in refrigerator to cool down. When cooled, place all the ingredients in a bowl, stir well, and then apply to your hair as if it is a real tint- with spatula. Cover your head and let it sit, not less than an hour, the longer it will stay- the darker the color will be. At the end, rinse out the tint and dry your hair.
3. Mask of soy sauce
- 1/2 cup of soy sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
Stir the soy sauce with the apple cider vinegar.
Firstly, wash your hair with your normal shampoo, then condition and rinse well. Next, apply this lotion as a final rinse to your hair, and finally (if possible) air dry your hair. This is a great alternative to cover the gray hair in a quick and easy way.

4. Shampoo and conditioner with cocoa
Perfect for those with dark hair
- 1 cup mild shampoo
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
Add the cocoa in the shampoo and stir well to mix them. Instead of preparing the mixture every time you wash your hair, you can prepare a larger quantity to be used more than once. Always respect the proportion. Once you wash your hair with the cocoa shampoo, rinse well, apply the conditioner and leave it as long as it is necessary, then rinse and dry your hair.
It is recommended to use it constantly until you get the desired effect. Once you get it you can start using your regular products.
